The D50 slotted in below the D70 as an even more accessible entry point into Nikon digital SLRs, sharing a similar 6.1-megapixel sensor in a simplified, lighter body aimed at first-time DSLR buyers. It uses the native Nikon F mount, with autofocus support for AF and AF-S lenses; older non-CPU lenses can be mounted but without metering coupling on this body.
